TDB AND BADEA SUPPORT PRIORITY TRADE FLOWS IN KENYA WITH MULTIPLE TRADE FINANCE FACILITIES OF USD 600M
Priority trade flows into Kenya are being jointly supported by the Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank (TDB) and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), through several trade finance facilities and limits of USD 600m. TDB served as the initial mandated lead arranger (IMLA) of the facilities, which will also crowd in other financiers and institutional investors. Among the disbursements, a notable USD 200m tranche in favour of the Government of Kenya was availed by BADEA for trade flows between Kenya and Arab countries.
The facilities are being used to support the import of essential commodities as well as specialized equipment, machinery and other essential inputs for important projects in multiple sectors such as agriculture, mining, ICT, energy, education, research, and healthcare, including for the manufacturing of vaccines and the purchase of medical equipment.

Haut-Katanga : L’Institut Ntetema sacré champion d’INTELLECT QUIZ et qualifié pour la finale nationale à Kinshasa
Après 2 semaines d’intenses joutes intellectuelles entre plusieurs établissements scolaires de Lubumbashi et de Kipushi, la deuxième édition d’INTELLECT QUIZ dans la province du Haut-Katanga a connu son épilogue ce mercredi 3 juin au Bureau Wallonie-Bruxelles de Lubumbashi.
Organisée par le Centre d’Appui Scolaire pour la Formation de l’Élite du Congo (CASFEC), cette compétition éducative de questions-réponses a réuni les meilleurs élèves de la province autour des valeurs d’excellence, de culture générale et d’émulation intellectuelle.
Une finale à sens unique
Au terme d’une finale très attendue, l’Institut Ntetema de Lubumbashi s’est imposé avec autorité face à l’Institut Mukoma 1 de Kipushi sur le score sans appel de 185 points contre 65, décrochant ainsi le titre de champion provincial du Haut-Katanga.
Cette victoire ouvre à l’Institut Ntetema les portes de la grande finale nationale d’INTELLECT QUIZ, prévue du 27 au 30 juin prochains à Kinshasa, où les champions des différentes provinces du pays s’affronteront pour le prestigieux titre national.
Une jeunesse congolaise riche en talents
Prenant la parole à l’issue de la compétition, Metouschélah Yubu, responsable du CASFEC, a salué la qualité des prestations offertes par les participants tout au long du tournoi.
« Cette compétition démontre que la jeunesse congolaise regorge d’intelligence, de talent et de potentiel. Pendant deux semaines, nous avons assisté à des performances remarquables de la part des élèves venus de Lubumbashi et de Kipushi. Notre mission est de promouvoir l’excellence académique et de préparer une élite capable de contribuer au développement de notre pays. Nous félicitons l’Institut Ntetema pour son sacre et lui souhaitons plein succès pour la finale nationale à Kinshasa », a-t-il déclaré.
INTELLECT QUIZ, une école de leadership
Pour sa part, Geraldie Lombo, président de la structure organisatrice, a rappelé que cette initiative dépasse le simple cadre d’une compétition scolaire.
« INTELLECT QUIZ est bien plus qu’un concours de connaissances. C’est une véritable école de leadership, de discipline et de dépassement de soi. Nous sommes heureux de voir des jeunes passionnés par le savoir et prêts à relever les défis intellectuels de demain. »
Il a également exprimé sa gratitude envers les établissements participants, les partenaires ainsi que le Bureau Wallonie-Bruxelles pour leur contribution à la réussite de cette édition.
Hommage aux partenaires
Les organisateurs ont adressé leurs remerciements à l’ensemble des partenaires ayant soutenu cette initiative, notamment Barbara Kanam, Directrice générale du Fonds de Promotion Culturelle, ainsi que Yolande Elebe, pour leur accompagnement et leur engagement en faveur de la promotion de l’éducation, de la culture et de l’excellence au sein de la jeunesse congolaise.
Avec ce sacre provincial, l’Institut Ntetema portera désormais les couleurs du Haut-Katanga à Kinshasa, avec l’ambition de décrocher le titre national et de confirmer la vitalité intellectuelle de la jeunesse congolaise.
